What is Mini-IVF?

Mini-IVF uses a lower dose of fertility drugs with the intent of retrieving fewer eggs per cycle than conventional IVF. This approach reduces the risk of (OHSS) Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome, one of the main complications of IVF and produces higher quality eggs after a stimulation cycle. The higher the quality of the eggs, the higher the chances of success.

Am I suitable for Mini-IVF?

Patients in more advanced age brackets who still have an acceptable level of ovarian reserves may be suitable for Mini-IVF

• Women between the ages of 40-47 with diminished but not exhausted ovarian reserves.
• Women who have already undergone standard IVF treatment where many eggs were retrieved but the outcome of treatment was negative.
• Women in older age brackets whose hormone levels still indicate optimal fertility, but IVF treatments fail to produce desired results.

Required tests for Mini-IVF

Female patient is required to undergo hormone testing and an ultrasound scan as explained in our “Infertility Testing” section. The male patient is required to undergo a semen analysis. Depending on your unique condition and previous history of infertility, additional testing may be required.

What are our success rates?

Success with Mini IVF is around the same as standard IVF treatments, but keeping in mind that mini IVF is administered to patients who would not obtain success via regular IVF, it is evident that for the same patient group, Mini IVF yields higher success compared to standard IVF treatments.

What is the cost of Mini-IVF?

The cost of mini IVF treatment at our Cyprus IVF Centre starts at £2,500. This cost is inclusive of your consults and scans at our clinic and the medical treatment itself. Cost of medication, cost of your preliminary infertility testing, accommodation and flights are extra. We can assist with these services as well.

Mini-IVF Summary

Mini IVF does not focus on the egg count, but rather, emphasises the quality of the few eggs that will be produced after the stimulation cycle, therefore, patients who are in their early 40s and those with slightly elevated FSH levels (slightly reduced AMH levels) are perfect candidates for mini IVF. The reason is, this group of women can still produce eggs in an IVF cycle, but it’s more likely that the quality of their eggs will be compromised during standard high dose IVF treatments.
